about

We had a friend in our songwriter’s group who fell in love with a guy who was younger than she was. She was afraid of being hurt and embarrassed about falling for him. She had a feeling it was too good to be true and it came to pass that they would part. She was devastated at the breakup and became sort of a recluse. It took a long time before she stopped being closed up in her bedroom but she did find her way out of it eventually with the support of her family and friends.

lyrics

Every day, she’d sit all alone in her room
With just the sound of her ticking clock.
She was afraid of her life and afraid of dying
She was afraid of her fears and afraid trying.
She was afraid to taste the sun and afraid of crying
And she never saw the sunrise at sunset.

Chorus:
But tomorrow is now and here is the day
When she wore her tears like a dress
Tomorrow is now and gone is the day
When she knows there are no regrets.

There’s no turning back, she’s letting it go,
It’s time to be free and she’s letting it show
There’s no turning back and there’s nowhere to hide
She’s starting it over, she’s ready to fly.
Everyday, she’d sit all alone in her gloom
Listening to the cold winter’s rain.
She was afraid to try again and afraid of losing
She was afraid to risk again and afraid of moving
She was afraid to act on faith and afraid of choosing
And she never saw the sunrise at sunset.

Chorus:
But tomorrow is now and here is the day
When she wore her tears like a dress
Tomorrow is now and gone is the day
When she knows there are no regrets.

There’s no turning back, she’s letting it go,
It’s time to be free and she’s letting it show.
There’s no turning back and there’s nowhere to hide
She’s starting it over, she’s ready to fly.
She’s starting it over,
She’s starting it over,
She’s starting it over, she’s ready to fly, fly fly.
